and she dragged her nails over his palm, not light enough for it to be tickling but far from leaving any marks. she doesn’t want to hurt him, even though sometimes the doubt fills her mind and makes it feel inevitable. his fingertips dances over her knuckles and she has to close her eyes; if he ever teases her about it she will blame it on the alcohol. she gets so tired after a few glasses these days. her old age, he would say and tease, she knows, and she smiles. the ends of his hair tickle her forehead as she leans even closer. at this angle he might not be able to see her closed eyes.
